| mid March 2008 Newsletter: Early Spring 2008
EIS is growing:
1 we need new teachers for Primary years and KS3, April and
September. Contact school for details
2 some forms will be full by September - please check for availability of places (Y8 to Y11 should have space)
World Book Day & Open Afternoon: EIS celebrated these two events together
with our guests from school no.1988 and the Busy Bees Nursery. With plays
and folk dances, a parade of literary characters (see the photos on this
page) and a busy programme for all, it was a lively day. Our book suppliers
sold out, and they have kindly donated a box of books for the Libraries.
Readathon: the children's efforts have been phenomenal! As soon as all the
lists are in, we will be awarding prizes to the pupils who have read the
most. Further, parents have been extraordinarily generous with sponsorship.
With a bit more to come in, we look like being able to give Rb.50,000 each
to Active Child Aid and to buying braille books for the blind. As our
charity events have raised far more money than we anticipated, I promise we
won't have any more cash pleas this school year; and will concentrate on
getting the children doing good things to help others next term.
Ski Trip: a selection of photos from the skiing in France (and Switzerland
is now on this page. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.
Senior Drama - Bugsy Malone the senior
thespians are busy rehearsing for their major play, which will be performed
on Wednesday 30 April. This is an action packed musical comedy,
exploring the lighter side of the Jazz age and the Chicago gang warfare.
All welcome. The juniors are planning a musical event for later in ther
term.
Looking ahead: Friday 27 June is the Prize Giving
Ceremony and Sports Day for the whole school.
